“Candles shouldn’t disappear into a room. They should define it.”
Comfort Sakoma, Founder
Comfort Sakoma founded House of Comfort™ after noticing a simple but persistent gap in the market: too many candles looked beautiful but didn’t smell nearly as good as they should.
With a background in branding, corporate leadership, and global business development, Comfort has spent years studying how products succeed — not just aesthetically, but emotionally and commercially. A graduate of the University of Toronto and Yale, she approaches fragrance the same way she approaches brand building: with precision, curiosity, and a deep understanding of what people actually want.
Over time, she developed a deep interest in fragrance performance — studying how scent behaves in wax, how notes evolve in a room, and why some candles disappear into the background while others transform a space. Every fragrance in the House of Comfort™ collection is tested repeatedly to ensure it performs the way a candle should — noticeable when lit, balanced in the air, and memorable long after the flame is out.
Having lived and worked across Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Dallas, Abuja, London, and beyond, Comfort brings a uniquely broad perspective to the Canadian home market and how people live, shop, gift, and create comfort in their homes.
She is also a mother to her toddler son, Micah, whose presence shaped her commitment to products that are thoughtfully made and safe for the homes they live in — hers and yours. House of Comfort™ was created to reinvent everyday fragrance, developing scents that are layered, sophisticated, and instantly memorable — scents designed not only to look beautiful on a shelf, but to fill a room in a way customers immediately notice and return for.
