What is House of Comfort™?

House of Comfort™ is a Canadian home fragrance brand creating fragrance for considered spaces.

 

Our collection includes candles, wax melts, room sprays, car diffusers, reed diffusers, fragrance oils, and home fragrance accessories.

 

We create fragrance for real life. The beautifully put-together parts, the slightly chaotic parts, and all the moments in between.

What makes House of Comfort™ different?

We take fragrance seriously. Ourselves? Slightly less so.

 

House of Comfort™ is built around layered, complex and sophisticated fragrances designed to unfold in your space and stick around. We blend multiple fragrance notes to create scents with depth and character, because “smells nice” has never really been enough for us.

 

But the formula is only half the story.

 

We believe the things that make your home smell beautiful should look beautiful living there, too. A room spray isn’t something we think you should have to hide under the sink. It lives on your bathroom vanity, kitchen counter, nightstand or coffee table, so we give the bottle, label and packaging the same attention we give the fragrance inside.

 

That philosophy carries across everything we make: thoughtful fragrance, sophisticated design, elegant packaging and just enough personality to keep things interesting.

 

It’s also why our fragrances have names like I’ll Clean It Tomorrow™, Still Becoming™, I’ve Always Been Her™, and Thriving Out of Spite™. Beautiful things don’t have to take themselves too seriously.

 

And everything is designed to feel gift-ready, whether you’re bringing it to a friend’s new home, celebrating someone you love, or buying it for yourself because apparently surviving the week is an occasion too.

Who founded House of Comfort™?

House of Comfort™ was founded by Comfort Avunze Sakoma, a first-generation Nigerian-Canadian and mom to her son, Micah.

 

And no, it didn’t start with a lifelong dream of making candles.

 

After the end of her marriage, Comfort found herself starting over in a mostly unfurnished home with her then two-year-old son. Furniture was sparse. Her nightstand was an empty diaper box. Life was very much a work in progress.

 

But every night, she put a candle on that diaper box and lit it.

 

And somehow? She felt like she had her life together.

Was the house furnished? No.


Was the nightstand technically a Pampers box? Yes.
But the candle was lit, the room smelled good, and for that moment, things felt okay.

 

That feeling became House of Comfort™.

 

It’s why we give our fragrances names like I’ll Clean It Tomorrow™, Still Becoming™, If It Requires a Bra, I’m Not Coming™, and Thriving Out of Spite™.

 

Because we’re not particularly interested in pretending life is perfectly put together. Our fragrances are little permissions to embrace where you are, laugh when appropriate, rest when you need to, and make yourself comfortable in the meantime.

 

You don’t have to have it all together to create a life that feels good.

 

Sometimes you just need to light the candle.

Where are House of Comfort™ products made?

Our products are handcrafted in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

 

We produce our home fragrance products in small batches with careful attention to fragrance, performance, design, and presentation.

 

House of Comfort™ is proudly Canadian and independently owned.

Choosing Your Fragrance

How do I choose a fragrance online?

Start with the fragrance notes listed on each product page, but think about how you want your space to feel, too.

 

Love something fresh and airy? Look for citrus, tea, eucalyptus, or fresh florals.

 

Prefer something warm and comforting? Vanilla, amber, sandalwood, cashmere, and woods may be more your style.

 

Want something deeper or more perfume-like? Look for notes such as cedar, leather, violet, vetiver, mahogany, or smoked woods.

Are your fragrances very strong?

Our products are formulated to create a noticeable, long-lasting fragrance experience.

 

We love fragrance with presence, but we also want it to feel considered. Strength will vary depending on the fragrance, room size, ventilation, and product format.

 

Room sprays provide an immediate fragrance experience, while candles, wax melts, and diffusers allow fragrance to develop more gradually throughout your space.

Do the same fragrances smell identical across every product?

Not always, and that’s completely normal.

 

Heat, wax, alcohol-based room spray bases, and diffuser bases can each highlight different parts of a fragrance.

 

The overall fragrance profile will remain recognizable, but you may notice certain notes more prominently depending on the format. Think of it as the same fragrance showing a slightly different side of its personality.

Which fragrance format should I choose?

It depends on how you want fragrance to live in your space.

 

Candles are for the full ritual. Light one when you want fragrance, warmth, ambience, and that little signal that the day has shifted into something slower.

 

Wax Melts are for fragrance lovers who want the scent without the flame. They’re especially good when you want a strong, cozy fragrance experience that you can turn on and off with your warmer.

 

Room Sprays are instant gratification. A few sprays can change the mood of a room in seconds, making them perfect for entryways, bedrooms, bathrooms, entertaining, or the five minutes before someone says, “I’m outside.”

 

Diffusers are the low-maintenance option. They work quietly in the background, giving your space consistent fragrance without lighting, spraying, or remembering to do much of anything.

 

Car Diffusers bring House of Comfort™ with you. They’re designed to make your car feel a little more considered, because your commute deserves better than whatever happened in the drive-thru.

Ingredients & Safety

What are your candles made with?

Our candles are hand-poured in Calgary using a coconut apricot wax blend and carefully selected fragrance oils.

 

We formulate our candles at a 9% fragrance load to create a beautiful scent experience while maintaining a consistent burn.

 

Just as important to us is what we leave out.

 

Our candles are made without paraffin wax, phthalates, parabens, or lead, and we do not use lead-core wicks.

 

We believe you should know what you’re bringing into your home. That’s why we choose our materials intentionally and formulate House of Comfort™ candles with both fragrance and the everyday spaces you live in in mind.

Are your products non-toxic?

We prefer to be specific about our ingredients rather than use broad terms like “non-toxic” or “chemical-free.”

 

Our candles are made with a coconut apricot wax blend and carefully selected fragrance oils. They are made without paraffin wax, phthalates, parabens, or lead, and we do not use lead-core wicks.


 

We believe transparency matters. Where relevant, we follow supplier safety documentation and recommended usage rates when formulating our products.

Are House of Comfort™ products safe around children and pets?

House of Comfort™ products are created with the home in mind, including the people and pets who share it.

 

We carefully select our ingredients and formulate our products according to their intended use.

 

That said, fragrance affects everyone differently, and pets can be particularly sensitive to certain fragrance ingredients. 

 

Our products should always be kept out of reach of children and pets and should never be ingested or applied directly to people or animals unless specifically designed for that purpose.

 

If your child or pet has a known sensitivity, respiratory condition, or other health concern, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider or veterinarian before introducing fragranced products into your home.

What if I am sensitive to fragrance?

Fragrance is personal, and sensitivity can vary significantly from person to person. While we formulate our products thoughtfully, we cannot guarantee that a fragranced product will be suitable for someone with a fragrance allergy, asthma, migraine trigger, or other sensitivity.

 

It’s also worth clearing up a common misconception: natural does not automatically mean safer. Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts and can contain naturally occurring allergens and irritants.

 

We primarily use professionally formulated fragrance oils because they give us greater consistency and control while allowing us to create the layered, complex scents House of Comfort™ is known for. We source from established suppliers and formulate according to appropriate usage and IFRA guidance for each product type.

 

Synthetic does not automatically mean unsafe, just as natural does not automatically mean safe. What matters is the ingredients, their concentration, and how the finished product is formulated and used.

 

If you have a known fragrance allergy, asthma, or another medical sensitivity, we recommend reviewing the product ingredients and consulting your healthcare professional when appropriate.

What candle sizes do you offer?

Our year-round collection includes:

 

4 oz Mini Candles — $18
Up to approximately 20 hours of burn time.

 

8 oz Candles — $28

Selected seasonal collections and releases may also be available in additional sizes.

How long does a room spray last?

Our full-size room sprays contain 100 mL and provide approximately 700 sprays, depending on use.

 

A few sprays can transform the feeling of a space in seconds, making them ideal when you want fragrance without waiting for it.

What’s the difference between the rope and vent clip car diffusers?

Same fragrance. Two ways to enjoy it.

 

Our rope diffuser is designed to hang in your vehicle, while our vent clip attaches directly to your vehicle’s air vent.

 

Choose whichever works best for your vehicle, your aesthetic, or your refusal to hang anything from your rearview mirror.

Do you offer car diffuser refills?

Yes.

 

Selected fragrances are available in refill sizes so you can continue enjoying your fragrance without replacing the entire diffuser.

What are Comfort Pebbles™ and wax melts?

Comfort Pebbles™ and wax melts are a flameless way to experience House of Comfort™ fragrances using a wax warmer.

 

They’re perfect if you love switching fragrances regularly, want to experience our scents without committing to a candle, or simply enjoy making your entire house smell suspiciously put together.

How long does a car diffuser last?

Our 8 mL car diffusers can last for up to approximately 45 days, depending on environmental conditions and use.

How long do reed diffusers last?

Our reed diffusers are designed to provide continuous, flameless fragrance.

 

Longevity can vary depending on the environment, room conditions, and use.

Which products are best for different rooms in my home?

There are no hard rules, but some formats naturally shine in certain spaces.

 

Candles are perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, dining spaces, and anywhere you want fragrance to be part of the atmosphere.

 

Comfort Pebbles™ and wax melts are great for larger or open spaces when you want noticeable fragrance without a flame.

 

Room sprays work almost anywhere, but we especially love them in entryways, bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and anywhere that needs a quick reset.

 

Reed diffusers are ideal for spaces where you want fragrance to simply exist in the background, like entryways, bathrooms, home offices, and smaller living spaces.

 

The best answer, though? Put fragrance wherever you want the room to feel a little more considered.

Custom Orders & Gifting

Do you offer custom orders?

Yes. We love creating fragrance experiences for occasions that call for something a little more personal.

 

House of Comfort™ offers custom and bulk orders for weddings, corporate gifting, client gifts, real estate closing gifts, events, hospitality, and other special occasions.

 

Depending on the project and quantity, customization may include fragrance selection, custom labels or messaging, curated product combinations, gift-ready packaging, and other personalized details.

Do you offer wedding, corporate, and client gifting?

Absolutely. We create gifts that are designed to feel personal rather than promotional.

 

For weddings and events, that might mean custom candles or fragrance favours, gifts for your wedding party or guests, or a signature scent that becomes part of the atmosphere of the day.

 

For businesses and professionals, we can create corporate gifts, client appreciation gifts, employee gifts, event gifting, real estate closing gifts, and curated fragrance sets.

What can be customized?

Quite a bit, depending on the project.

 

We can work with you to customize elements such as fragrance, product format, labels, messaging, packaging, and product combinations. 

 

You can choose from existing House of Comfort™ fragrances, or for select projects, we can discuss creating a fragrance experience specifically for your event, brand, or occasion.

 

Customization can be as simple as adding a personalized label to one of our existing products or as involved as developing a coordinated collection of products designed around your event or gifting experience.

 

Whatever the scale, we want the finished product to still feel like House of Comfort™: thoughtful fragrance, sophisticated design, and something you’ll actually be excited to give.

Is there a minimum order, and how far in advance should I order?

Minimum quantities depend on the product and level of customization. A bulk order using an existing House of Comfort™ fragrance may require less lead time than a project involving custom fragrance development, labels, packaging, or multiple products.

 

For larger or highly customized orders, the earlier you reach out, the better. This gives us enough time for fragrance selection or development, production, curing where required, packaging, and any custom printed materials.

 

When you contact us, include your event or delivery date, approximate quantity, products you’re interested in, budget, and any customization ideas. We’ll walk you through the available options, pricing, minimums, and timeline before anything is confirmed.

Shipping & Orders

Where do you ship?

Worldwide. House of Comfort™ ships internationally from Calgary, Canada. Available shipping options and rates are calculated at checkout.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Please contact us as soon as possible and include your order number along with clear photos of the damaged product and packaging.

 

We’ll review the issue and work with you on an appropriate resolution.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If you need to make a change, contact us as quickly as possible.

 

We’ll do our best to accommodate your request if your order has not yet entered production or been packed for shipment.

 

Once an order has been processed or shipped, changes may no longer be possible.
